Small-Town News. Big Stories. No Filter.
Reporter in a Small Town pulls back the curtain on local journalism before the internet, social media, and smartphones—when reporters chased stories with notebooks, police scanners, and a deep sense of responsibility to their communities.
Drawing on a 32-year career and a lifetime shaped by legendary journalist G. George Ostrom, Wendy Ostrom Price shares candid, often gripping stories from behind the mic: unforgettable interviews, ethical dilemmas, breaking news moments, and the emotional weight of reporting on people you know.
Real-life reporting stories from a small-town radio newsroom
Lessons learned from a larger-than-life journalist father
Behind-the-scenes moments from major news events, including 9/11
Heartwarming, heartbreaking, and sometimes humorous encounters
An intimate look at a disappearing breed: the enterprise reporter
"They don’t make ’em like that anymore."
—Kevin Gartland, Executive Director of the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce
Honest, witty, and deeply human, Reporter in a Small Town is both a memoir and a tribute to the essential role of local journalism and the people who dedicate their lives to telling the truth, no matter how close to home it hits.
